10 Most Expensive Dishes in the World

The rich and famous always captivates many of us. They typically lead a life most of us would want and they do stuff that we could only dream of. The expensive dishes they eat or partake are the stuff that makes our mouth water just thinking about it.

1. Saffron. This spice comes from saffron flower. One pound of dry saffron (0.45 kg) requires in excess of 50,000 flowers to make. With so much resources and labor needed, prices for the spice go at around US$500/pound to US$5,000/pound. Dishes, like French Bouillabaisse, that uses saffron as spice usually turns out to be a very expensive dish.

The potato fields are fertilized with seaweed in a climate shaped by the nearby sea. The cost of one kilogram can climb up to €500 because this type of potato is almost extinct.

6. Kobe Beef. These Japanese cows are fed the best grass and given the best treatment. The meat in this cow is especially tender and has a lot of marbling. An expensive dish like this can cost more than 100 dollars for a 200 gram fillet.

7. Von Essen Platinum Club Sandwich. This triple-decker sandwich contains premium chicken, hard-boiled quails’ eggs, ham, and white truffles. 8. Omelette. The world’s priciest omelette can be ordered at the Le Parker Meridien in New York. The $1,000 omelette has ten ounces of caviar (sevruga), a whole lobster, and six eggs. If you try to make this expensive dish on your own, it would only set you back $700.
