Playing the Big Six wheel

The Big Six is played by spinning a big vertical wheel. It is can be legally played in licensed casinos around the U.K. Spokes or pins are used to divide the wheel equally into six sections. Each section of the wheel is assigned a number. An elastic piece of rubber is mounted as a pointer and also as a means to slow the wheel through friction. The dealer spins the wheel; the winner is determined by the pointer.

There are several variants to the game, it may have the divided into different number of segments, or have the wheel using different symbols, or having different odds for the symbol selected. The most common variant has usually the following symbols:  the $1 bill, $2 bill, $5 bill, $10 bill and the $20 bills. Two special symbols are added to this, a joker and the casino logo, which appears only once each. The odds for symbols are 1 to 1 for the $1 bill, at 2 to 1 for the $2 bills, at 5 to 1 for the $5 bills, and so on. Usually, the joker pays at odds of 40 to 1 and the logo at 45 to 1, but much depends on the local game regulations or the casino practice.

The house edge on the Big Six wheel is one of the highest of most casino games. In the U.S., it may range from 11.1 percent on the $1 bill an up to 24% on the joker or logo. In the land down unnder the house advantage is 7.69% on all bets, with the payouts as follows: 47:1, 23:1, 11:1, 5:1, 3:1 and 1:1 on a fifty-two segment wheel.

There are two-hundred sixteen possible combinations in three dice. The symbols of the Big Six wheel represent those 216 combinations. Players bet on the numbers from one to six. When the wagered number appears on one of the Big Six wheel, the player wins at 1 to 1. When the numbers appears on two of the Big Six wheel, the player wins at 2 to 1. When the numbers appears on three of the Big Six wheel, the player wins at 3 to 1.

One dice wheel example is divided into 54 segment; the triples appear four time. Each of the next doubles appear four times: 2, 1, 1; 6, 5, 5; 2, 2, 1; 4, 3, 3; 5, 4, 4; and 6, 6, 3. There are seven possible outcomes, where one die only will match the number, there are four probable results, where 2 dice will match and there are 4 probable outcomes, where all 3 dice match.

The symbolisms of the Big Six are similar to sic bo and chuck-a-luck, casino games that are also played with three dice. However, the house edge is bigger in the Big Six than for chuck-a-luck, which also gives house advantage better than other casino games.

A legal game in a licensed casino in the Australia, New Zealand or United Kingdom uses a wheel at least 0.75 metres in radius divided into fifty-two segments, each with one of seven symbols
