Treasure Island Hotel and Casino

Treasure Island Hotel and Casino, more popularly called the ‘TI’ is a magnificent hotel in the Las Vegas Strip of the state of Nevada in the United States of America. The first thing you will notice when you first arrive at the Treasure Island is the sheer number of palm trees that are there. The TI is themed around the region of the Caribbean. Caribbean represents fun, an easy-going lifestyle and warmth, both in the climate as well as in the attitudes of the people.

This hotel and casino opened in the year 1993 on the 15th of October. The initial cost of the hotel, as directed by Steve Wynn was a staggering 450 million dollars. The hotel was first supposed to have a more family appeal but over the years that has been replaced by a more adult-centric approach. That is, the kiddies-pool has been replaced by a hot-tub for adults. Then there has been an addition with a night club and a party bar that have come about after removing a gaming arcade. Now the total Casino space occupies 8,800 square meters of the hotel space.

The hotel was first supposed to have towers but now, it is one single expansive building. The Treasure Island was designed by the famous architect Joel Bergman. As the years passed by, the Pirate theme was replaced by the beautiful Caribbean. The nightclub, Tangerine in 2004 was remodeled and renamed. It has been since then called ‘Christian Audigier’. The Treasure Island Casino and Hotel was sold very recently on the 20th of March, 2009 by MGM Mirage to Phil Ruffin at the tune of 775 million dollars!

The Treasure Island has been seen in a lot of Hollywood movies including the Dodgeball: the True Underdog story, Knocked Up, Miss Congeniality 2 and Beavis and Butthead do America. In television, the hit NBC show, Las Vegas’ second season was shot in the Treasure Island. The hotel is for someone who loves a lot of activity. There are restaurants and amazing nightclubs. The hotel is comfortable and the pricing is reasonable for a hotel of that stature.

There are 2885 rooms in the Treasure Island Hotel. The famous show offered by the hotel is ‘Mystere’, which is a visual spectacle. The ‘Buccaneer Bay’ was a show based on the Caribbean performed in the large man made lake in the Las Vegas Strip. The show was based on the early Pirate-theme. The Buccaneer Bay is a visual treat. Now it is performed as ‘Sirens Cove’ and the ‘Sirens of TI’. The show still has a very pirate appeal but has been made adult-centric by the addition of a lot of music and the presence of very scantily-clad women and men. Treasure Island has a permanent show called ‘Mystere’ which is performed by the famous troupe Cirque de Soleil. This show opened in 1993 and redefined the concept of entertainment shows in Las Vegas. It is voted as the best show in the entire Las Vegas Strip many times!
